After a year in Russia, I vowed to never live somewhere cold again. I moved to Savannah, Georgia, where my friend Elsie grew up.
She had always talked about the marshes and rivers around her grandmother’s house.
And it was out here that she helped me shoot a series of photographs with a new boat.
It was the first time I experimented with making things out of fiberglass.
Sometimes I think that the history of my boatmaking and performance projects is really a history of my friends patience with me.
Here is Rusty Brown and his friend playing along.
