These images are of rubbings that I have made over the last two years. In the process of making the work, I carve a woodblock relief print (usually right onto a boat that I have made) and then make rubbings on vellum from the relief, much like a gravestone rubbing. I move around the paper to pick up different parts of the carving so that each rubbing is a unique composition. To see pictures of the process, click here
